Too often students view instructors as perpetually responsible people whose lives revolve around curriculum and instruction. Of course, we know this is not true: we run late, we miss deadlines, we ask for extensions, we overlook emails, we suffer through illnesses, and we care for our loved ones. Just like the students we serve, we have our successes and our failures, and we require the support of our community to thrive. With that in mind, the artwork in this exhibit reflects our complicated lives. Not unlike our students, CCD faculty and instructors are perpetually trying to make their way in this often-perplexing world and our artwork inevitably discloses our humanity. When considered collaboratively, it further discloses the role that community plays in helping us all to achieve more than what we could individually.
